To confirm compliance with the requirements of ISO 3834 Part 2, Quality requirements for fusion welding of metallic materials - Comprehensive quality requirements, it will be necessary for rail welding suppliers to have valid certification under the Welding Fabricator Certification Scheme (WFCS) from TWI Certification Ltd (TWI CL). The WFCS is internationally recognised, UKAS-accredited certification that is approved by the European Federation for Welding, Joining and Cutting (EWF) and the International Institute of Welding (IIW). In cooperation with Network Rail, London Underground and RISQS, and supported by the industry stakeholders in the Institute of Rail Welding (IoRW), TWI CL has developed rail-specific guidance and an application form that will assist rail welding providers in accessing the certification. The compliance assessments will be conducted by TWI CL Lead Assessors with extensive experience in the rail sector. The Certification will require an initial 2-day assessment, including the document review and welding quality assessment, and will be valid for 5 years subject to annual surveillance.

To apply to be assessed against the requirements of BS EN ISO 3834, in conjunction with Rail Welding please fill in an application form found here.
